Yes, I think you will have to either spend hours and hours looking in the index or wait a few years for it to be transcribed on Freebmd. Or perhaps do some transcribing for Freebmd to speed things up! nell

Well, Alexandra, all I can suggest is to keep trawling through the marriage indexes. Personally, if I have a long search like that to do, I go and look through the microfiches at the record office rather than wait for the pages to load on the computer! (Perhaps this is because I am on dial-up.) Kate.

G83 Report 19 Aug 2006 23:00

its his mothers death cert she only had one child as her first husband died when charles was very young she never had any more children even when she remarried.

Is the death cert you have Charles' death? If not, how do you know he married Rosina?

Kate

Kate Report 19 Aug 2006 22:56

Alexandra, I'm sorry to say this, but if you don't have any information about this couple except the death cert, then they could have got married any time. There is no cutoff age after which somebody can't get married! So you might well end up with a long slog through the marriage indexes until you do find them, sorry! I helped somebody with one like this a few months ago where she assumed her relative would have got married before the age of about 35, but I think she turned out to have got married in her 50's! Kate.

G83 Report 19 Aug 2006 22:54

well this is what im trying to find out i know charles was born 1913 i would of expected him to be married by 1943 time but i havent come accross any marriage for him i have look at all the charles's in the years but none seem right i dont know how else i would find info any other way?

Kate

Kate Report 19 Aug 2006 22:52

Oh, and also, Alexandra, do you have any reason to think that they had children? If so, do you know anything about those children, because if you do, it could help to narrow down when the marriage took place. Kate.

Kate

Kate Report 19 Aug 2006 22:51

Alexandra, it could be a mammoth task unless you know for sure that they were married in a certain period. How do you know that they didn't get married just before the death, for example? They could have been married to other people before and been widowed. Kate.

G83 Report 19 Aug 2006 22:46

The death cert with Rosina as informant - does it give her address? any clues as to whether she was as old as Charles, or older/younger? I really think it would help if you were able to find some more info about this couple before you - or others -embark on such a long search. I did once do a search for a marriage over 37 years and although I found the wedding with 2 quarters to spare, I vowed I'd never do it again! nell

so that is 41 years x 4 qtrs= 164 qtrs. be a good idea if you list the years qtr by qtr so people can see what ha been checked and what hasnt. ( i could check 1955 now, someone else may already have done it/ be doing it)
