Never mind Mandy l'm not too sure myself l have looked for a marriage and death plus casualty in the boer war and ww1 but arthur Louis has just vanished. l've even had look ups done in Australia and u.s.a. and canada but he's vanished without trace. Arthur is my husbands only gt uncle on his fathers side so it would be just great if l could establish something on him. Please sort out others as they more than likely have more to go on than l do. Thanks anyway Kind regards Pam

Hi Pam 1837online is the BMD indexes, which have to be searched by quarter. I'm not quite sure what it is you want me to look for? If you can be a bit more specific, I just have a few credits left now. Mandy :)

Hi Mandy Thank you for the offer lf you have any credits left. Please could you look for Arthur Louis Powney born 1880 Burton on trent Derbyshire There is nothing on him after 1891 census when he was 19 His brother John Henry 1877 Norton Canes is missing on the 1901 but turns up in Prestwich where he is married. l wondered if they had gone off to the Boer War. l searched the casualty list for that but he isn't on it. Thanks in advance Pam

Hi Martin Sorry, but 1837online doesn't cover Scotland. I think you need Scotlandspeople site for that. Mandy :)

Caroline Sorry, but it would take more credits than I've got left to just search onwards from 1901 because she might have lived as far as the 1940s. Mandy :)

Hi Mandy, If you are still on credit, I would be most gratful if you could see if my gt gt Uncle Hector Kennedy exists on there. He was shown in the 1851 census under Sleat, Isle of Skye, but I've not been able to locate him since, or any details of his birth cert/marriage etc., He was born circa 1848, Isle of Skye, to Donald and Mary Kennedy. Apparently he went on to become a Church Minister on the Isle of Rasaay, near Skye, but again nothing comes up! Many thanks for your kind offer. Martin

Hi Peter Not much luck I'm afraid. I've looked for a marriage from Sept 1837-end 1841 and no matches. The only death I can find for a Thomas London is the following: Thomas London - death registered Berkhamsted - 1st quarter 1841 - vol 6, p335. Berkhamsted isn't terribly far from London, so it could be a 'possible'. Mandy :)

Mandy She is listed on 1901 census as living with hisband Robert Racklry and children Alice & Arthur Kibbles. After that I don't know. Thanks for any help Perks

Hi Mandy, thanks for the offer, I've a couple of people to look up. Can you try to find the marriage of Elizabeth Rose Hawley(could be shortened to Eliza) and Thomas London c1837-1840? And also the death of Thomas London c 1841? He was born c1820 in the Shoreditch area of London. The marriage would be in this area also. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Norma I've searched the overseas marriages and the miliary records for 1820-1830 and no record of a marriage for Edward Hoyle. Sorry. Caroline Which census was she last known on? This will help me to narrow down the search years, thanks. Mandy

Don't know if you can help. I have been looking for the death of Ellen Rackley, but I am stuck. Born 1849, lived in Rickmansworth (Watford District) for most oher live, as far as I can see. Do you need any more info? Perks

Hi Carol I've been through every quarter from Jan 1878 - Dec 1881 with no luck. Unfortunately, both surnames could be spelt in different ways. I did the search under Sheppard rather than trying to look under variations of Hagan. I also had a quick look on FreeBMD with the phonetic surname spelling turned on, but still no luck. Sorry not to have better news, Mandy :)

Helen, I had a quick look on the IGI too, and nothing! I've a rough idea of London areas, so I think I probably covered everything. I reckon they will have married a week before registration ;))) Good luck! Mandy :)

Sheila - you're welcome! Helen - sorry, I've been through every quarter from Sept 1837 to Dec 1845 inclusive, and there are no James YORKs married in the London area. I also had a quick look on FreeBMD and nothing there to match either. Could they have been married before registration started in Sept 1837? They were both certainly old enough to be married in the early 1830s. Mandy :)
