I expect many of you will remember Bendy Wendy. She is taking a very intensive course of study this year and family history/GR has had to take a back seat. She took up one of those special offers from 1837online and has now got loads of spare credits that have to be used up in the next few weeks, so she offered them to me. I said that I would offer lookups with them, so if you want any BMDs searched on 1837online, please ask away! I need to keep myself busy at the moment anyway, so the more the merrier! Mandy :) |

Please could you give me a bit of time to do the wider searches, but I'll definitely get the three above done tonight (just didn't want anyone to think I'd forgotten!). Mandy :) |

Sorry, I went out of order and did Sheila's first because I thought it would be the quickest (haha!!). Not had much luck I'm afraid, Sheila. Under the GRO Regimental Birth Indices 1761-1924, would you believe the bad luck I encountered - there's a McClelland listed with a dirty great smudge across the page. The only thing I can make out is the middle initial - E - and this might therefore be yours. Perhaps you could contact the GRO as I've given you the relevant index? I also found a McClelland (Female) listed under the GRO Marine Births Indices 1862-1875 and the reference for that is simply 'page 23'. At first, I thought that 'female' indicated a stillbirth or death shortly after birth like we'd normally assume on the UK records, but looking down the list nearly all the births are listed as either Male or Female. I checked the UK births for every quarter of 1861-1863 and didn't find anything. Mandy :) |

Hi Patricia That's a pretty wide search, especially with a surname like Williams, and would take some time. I did, however, have a quick look on FreeBMD and to start off with, there are two Mary Elizabeth Williams who got married in Stoke Damerel between 1878-1880. The spouses are listed so you would need to look at later censuses to see if you can work out which one she married and if, indeed, she's the right Mary. Mandy :) |

Sheila - you're welcome! Helen - sorry, I've been through every quarter from Sept 1837 to Dec 1845 inclusive, and there are no James YORKs married in the London area. I also had a quick look on FreeBMD and nothing there to match either. Could they have been married before registration started in Sept 1837? They were both certainly old enough to be married in the early 1830s. Mandy :) |

Helen, I had a quick look on the IGI too, and nothing! I've a rough idea of London areas, so I think I probably covered everything. I reckon they will have married a week before registration ;))) Good luck! Mandy :) |

Hi Carol I've been through every quarter from Jan 1878 - Dec 1881 with no luck. Unfortunately, both surnames could be spelt in different ways. I did the search under Sheppard rather than trying to look under variations of Hagan. I also had a quick look on FreeBMD with the phonetic surname spelling turned on, but still no luck. Sorry not to have better news, Mandy :) |

Norma I've searched the overseas marriages and the miliary records for 1820-1830 and no record of a marriage for Edward Hoyle. Sorry. Caroline Which census was she last known on? This will help me to narrow down the search years, thanks. Mandy |

Hi Mandy, thanks for the offer, I've a couple of people to look up. Can you try to find the marriage of Elizabeth Rose Hawley(could be shortened to Eliza) and Thomas London c1837-1840? And also the death of Thomas London c 1841? He was born c1820 in the Shoreditch area of London. The marriage would be in this area also. Any info would be great. Thanks. |

Hi Peter Not much luck I'm afraid. I've looked for a marriage from Sept 1837-end 1841 and no matches. The only death I can find for a Thomas London is the following: Thomas London - death registered Berkhamsted - 1st quarter 1841 - vol 6, p335. Berkhamsted isn't terribly far from London, so it could be a 'possible'. Mandy :) |

Hi Mandy, If you are still on credit, I would be most gratful if you could see if my gt gt Uncle Hector Kennedy exists on there. He was shown in the 1851 census under Sleat, Isle of Skye, but I've not been able to locate him since, or any details of his birth cert/marriage etc., He was born circa 1848, Isle of Skye, to Donald and Mary Kennedy. Apparently he went on to become a Church Minister on the Isle of Rasaay, near Skye, but again nothing comes up! Many thanks for your kind offer. Martin |

Caroline Sorry, but it would take more credits than I've got left to just search onwards from 1901 because she might have lived as far as the 1940s. Mandy :) |

Hi Pam 1837online is the BMD indexes, which have to be searched by quarter. I'm not quite sure what it is you want me to look for? If you can be a bit more specific, I just have a few credits left now. Mandy :) |
