PM from Frances. hi sorry to trouble you again i had foun an alice on the 1881 census but she was 6months old and in union work house old windsor ther mother was elizabeth and 24 and she did live at home in new windsor but i think she had a baby eliabeth age 4 but i cannt trace what happened to them or alice. frances Frances do you have the marriage certificate for Alice and Archibald? Can you tell us her fathers occupation from it. We can see Edward on the 1891, but need to know his occupation to confirm it.

edward dougles atwell born 1839 of st pancras died 4 yrs before they married

Not sure if this is him but it's the only Edward Douglas I can find at the moment. Message recieved from Frances, fathers name Edward Douglas. hi there yes that is my grand parent with 2 of there children eva was mother in law she was surpose to be born in marylebone but there is no birth cert ive tryed cental office and ive had 3 goes and they still cant find her i know ruffley when she was born 1877/8/9 when she died 1959 on the wed.cert dads name was edward dougles but still nothing. thanks frances

Hi Frances, thanks for the pm, so if the one I found was incorrect, we need to find Alice prior to the 1901, what is her fathers name on the marriage certificate? It will help us to find her on earlier census to confirm her birth in Marylebone. Keith

I agree Fiona, it certainly springs out at you for the 81 and 91 census as the most likely, given the p.o.b.

Might not be Keith, seems to be the only one that fits and we do have 3 first names to go on. Wouldn't be the first to have a wrong birth place on censuses, a lot of my family just seem to put the last place they lived! I'm going with your find for what it's worth, now we just need to know if the father was Edward on the marriage certificate. Fiona.

It appears that I may have the wrong one on the 1881 and 1891 census!!!!! looking at the 1901. But unless we get some feed back as to fathers name we cannot tell.
