Sounds like their problem Louise, not yours....lets just hope it was none of our family members in that tree, its more upsetting to miss out on these things.

I have asked the seller for some more information off it, perhaps we could connect it to someone off here..

It seems to match in with someone who has a tree on Ancestry World Tree. I have sent him an email. Also checked on here and the same person appears to be a member of GR - so have sent him a pm as well! UPDATE- he has received my message and is going to look at the ebay item.

Hi Louise I read your thread and i didn't see that there was anything wrong with it. I went on ebay and had a look at it. we have a teacher with that name but she is off this week so you never know. I would love someone to put on a thread with any of my names on it. I don't always go on that part of ebay. Don't worry about those moaning minnies. Cheer up Kate

Louise, I was one of the people who replied to your first thread. As I said in my reply, I didn't object to the item being mentioned on the thread, (lots of people do this) only all the terms and conditions, methods of payment, etc., which I must say, did make it look like you were the one selling the item and also made it look like you were using Genes to advertise things for sale - which I now realise you weren't. I didn't send you any personal messages. I apologise if I upset you at all, as this wasn't my intention - I actually tried to give advice about looking up the names from the family tree in the quick search, so that the tree could go to the proper family. Louise I saw your thread on the tree I didn't for one minute think it was you selling it. Don't worry if someone has misunderstood. I wish it had been of my family boy what a find. Germaine x

Louise, Don't let other people get you down. Their misinterpretations of something are their problem not yours. (It didn't enter my head it was you selling). I looked on Genes and there are over 300 entries of Vigor in trees on here. I hoped it would go to it's family. Such a super thing to find....... now if only someone would find my family bible(sold in the 50's) I would be delighted!!Marie

Hi I also replied to Louise's 1st thread and obviously miss read it. But I would also like to say that I didn't send her any emails. I was just annoyed that someone would use Genes for personal gain and thought it was an insult to all the generous people that have given their time ( mostly at their own expense) doing lookups for myself and others. I have sent Louise a personal appology and would like to appologies to anyone else that took offence. Colleen.

if the tree goes up to 1921, perhaps the person selling should look for a living relative through electoral registers. It would be a shame for it to go to someone who is not connected to the tree. I wish I could find something like that on my family tree.

Willow Report 26 Jan 2007 09:58

Hi just had this response from the seller... 'Hi. Try John Stanley Vigors who married Sarah Westbrook Barber in 1921 - who had a son, John Janes Herbert Vigors. Desmond Doyne Vigors - born 1921 also.' wonder if we can locate the family I cant find anything...

Willow

Willow Report 26 Jan 2007 11:54

Hi I managed to find someone on GR who was researching the same names........ The Vigors come from County Carlow Ireland and look to be a very distingushed family! Anyway I sent the person an email and they sent this reply:- 'Thanks very much. I think that tree is relevant and I have put in a bid. If I am successful it I will give the tree to the Irish Genealogical Research Society library so that it will be available for anybody who get there.' So well done Louise!!

I just emailed them, Louise should get the pat on the back, she found it.
