Dear Martin
I had a paternal grandmother who was Olive Maude Lee born 10 May 1882 in Ware, Herts. She married my grandfather George Tidey on 25 Dec. 1910 at St Cuthbert's Church, Kensington and they then lived at 3 Spear Mews, Kensington. Her father was Andrew Lee, a cab proprietor who was born in 1860 and died in 1914 aged 54 due to an awful injury he suffered when his cab turned over on him and fractured his spine. He was taken to Kensington Infirmary and stayed there curled in a foetal position (because they had removed 5 of his vertebrae!!) for the rest of his life. He took up sewing though because he could use his hands and he went on to make the christening gowns for the Royal Family. They even sent him a handmade box with a silver plaque inside thanking him for making the gowns. Unfortunately my aunt, Olive, took the box to school to show her teacher and then lost it on the way home. It has never been seen since! If you need any more info please contact me via Genes Reunited.

Regards, Sue Bellord (nee Tidey)
