Im trying to find a death certificate for Duncan Kennedy Mitchell bor 1924 Glasgow Scotland..Fathers name Duncan Kennedy Mitchell died 1963,Mothers name was Jane Smillie McDonald Sommerville.Also any decendents he may have ,,

Scotland's People shows the birth of 6 people called Duncan Kennedy Mitchell and 2 marriages - 1945 and 1958 - (1 of these shown twice in Stirling as bride had a previous name).

2 of the births can probably be discounted as too young to marry in 1945/1958 and ? 2 discounted due to births 1868 and 1896

Scotland's People doesn't give mmn on birth searches so more difficult to tell if he has descendants from possible marriages.

There are 3 deaths in the name. 2 would appear to be that of the 1868 and 1896 births and the last of one who died aged 90 in 2022 in Cupar, Fife would fit the 1932 birth

There is a Duncan Kennedy Mitchell on NZ ER's to 2010, but obviously NO way of knowing if it's the man being sought.

OP has posted photos of the subject of this post on Ancestry.

Unfortunately, as already mentioned in one of the threads, he's not the only man of that name.

For instance, there is/was one living in Richmond, NZ in 2010, per ER on Ancestry.
He's with a Patricia Anne Mitchell.

And of course there are loads of records of all sorts, in many places, for men named Duncan K Mitchell, or simply Duncan Mitchell - but with no indication of age.

Can I say Massive thank you to everyone who has contributed.
I do know he was in the Merchant navy so that is definately something to go on..
The 2 marriages,one in 1945,would definatley be him and I had wondered if he had a 2nd marriage.
Duncan Kennedy Mitchell is my father who I have been trying to trace for many many years..I had only found out about him when I was 13 years old,and I never met him,
Too late now as he will have passed by now but my search still goes on for any children/grandchildren he may have had.

If you think the marriages are for this man - get the certs to prove it

He may have had a sister Agnes and a brother James. Have you considered researching them?

When the father died, did he mention Duncan in his Will?

The mother JANE died in 1936, so the subsequent marriages could have been for her husband, as opposed to her son,

The marriage in 1945 was to my mother.I have sent for the certificate of the 2nd marriage.
Duncan Kennedy Mitchell born 1936 died c1961 was the DKM ,senior.He was a master butcher and when his wife dies at the age or 36 from cancer he married his housekeeper.There was only 2 children to the 1st marriage the DKM i am looking for and his brother Alexander who emigrated to Canada with his wife and 2 boys,
My DKM never attended Alexanders wedding and was not heard from again.I was in touch with Alexander before his death.
I have a feeling he may have emigrated as I cannot find a death certificate anywhere in Scotland England or even Ireland..Thanks everyone..The search goes on x
