ArgyllGran Report 9 Nov 2020 15:09

James senior was presumably away from home, working, in 1871 and 1881.
The census only records who was at an address on the night of the census.

The whole family must have been back in Ireland by 1891 , so we won't find them on a census.

Lizzie/Elizabeth was born in Ireland c1885, per 1901 census.

For helpers' reference, in case it's important:
John Harrison belonged to Clydebank, or at least that was his place of residence, per the 1908 marriage cert.
Father: James Harrison, labourer

ErikaH asked earlier who the witnesses were -
James Elliott and Maggie Young (she made her mark).

According to the 1901 census, Maggie/Margaret could read, but not write.

Thanks AG

Still not sure about the Scotland Census but looks possible seems James no where to be seen after 1861 census &Isabella dob varies a lot

I wonder where they were in 1891

1901/1911 in Ireland ages vary again

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 8 Nov 2020 15:48

I tried looking for Davidson births a few days ago, but can't find any with mms McFadden or variation.

Nor any marriage of James Young and Isabella.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 8 Nov 2020 15:39

Maybe she wasn't 'Young' at birth.......................'Davidson' must have come from somewhere

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 8 Nov 2020 15:17

Not that birth, Erika - unless all the info we think we've found for the rest of the family is wrong..

Details from image:

Born 24 April 1884 at 12 Weir Street.
Father: Edward Young, bricklayer
Mother: Lizzie Young, nee Savage.

"According to her MC she was Elizabeth Davidson Young but on her childrens BC
MMN Davidson"

So was her father named as James Young or James Davidson?
Or just James with no surname?

Was she a spinster?

EDIT:

I've just looked it up.

Yes, she was a spinster, and her father was James Young, labourer.
Her address at marriage was Whiteabbey, so that must be the correct family in 1911.
