I know, it was the same birth and death place, Bethnal Green. I looked for him on the 1939 register, also absent voters list. Actually I have run out of places to look. I did find an incoming passenger list for him in 1949, could be him, may not be, if it is then he was all over the world, India, Australia etc.

Have no idea what the A stands for.

As you say the marriage certificate is the route forward with this one.

Death for a Joseph A lewis born 1923 died 1/1924 age 1 Bethnal Green 1c 165

Wherever he was born, if the age he declared when travelling was accurate, he had to have been born before October 29th 1922

No birth in Scotland.

No clue about Joseph.
When and where was son Joseph/Joe born as mentioned on obituary for Grady leon Brake
It says stepson Joe lewis and wife Susan .

Thanks Mary and Erika, there are a lot of family mentioned in the obituary as Grady was also married 3 or 4 times. I have found quite a few of them on Facebook, I think my next move will be to see if I can find Jo and Susan on Facebook and I may be able to ask them. With a bit of luck they may be a “friend” of one or two of the other siblings.

Also from the ER you found above it would seem that Joseph was living with his in laws prior to leaving for Canada with Audrey.
