Freebmd only shows 1 Elizabeth Batten marriage in Newbury in 1839 and the only George recorded on the same page is George Crosswell so wondering if there's been some sort of mistake, also interested in finding out if Elizabeth was a widow.

I did know about the GRO index Erika, that was my starting point and I found them in the 1851 census with Elizabeth's son William Batten but stupidly I then picked up on the other George not even considering that Elizabeth's husband might have died before 1871. So thanks again for helping to sort out my mistake :-D
