Hi please can some one help please. I have a William Redfern born 1899 married Ellen Griffen born 1888 her father was Fred Griffen . William and Ellen had children Kathleen born 1921 and Joyce born 1926 they were all born Sheffield. But the thing is they all died on 14th of March 1941 at 43 Southey Hill Road Parson Crooss Sheffield . Idid here that a family of Redferns from that area had died from a bomb but not sure as it was told to me from an old relative when I was very young so not sure if it was true, so please can some one help to find if it was true thanks

If they died as a result of enemy action in WW2, the records will be on the CWGC site

The cause of death will also be on any of the death certs, which you will be able to purchase when the current emergency ends

Births Sep 1938 (>99%)
Redfern Anthony W (mms Reffern ) Sheffield 9c 649

"Reffern" is a mistrancription on FreeBMD. On the image his mother's maiden name was Redfern.

So Anthony was the illegitimate child of William & Ellen's eldest daughter Hilda :

Births Jun 1919 (>99%)
Redfern Hilda (mms Griffin) Ecclesall B 9c 663

I wonder what happened to poor Hilda, who was presumably not in the house at the time - or maybe she was but survived.
.
She'd lost all her family and her baby.

Perhaps you know what happened to her - you don't mention her in your opening post, but maybe you were aware of a Hilda in your family?

Just a possibility:

???
Marriages Dec 1943 (>99%)
Barnes John Redfern Chesterfield 7b 1681
Redfern Hilda Barnes Chesterfield 7b 168

??Maybe -

Hilda Barnes
in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007
Name: Hilda Barnes
Death Age: 75
Birth Date: 16 Jun 1919
Registration Date: Dec 1994
Registration district: Bradford
Inferred County: West Yorkshire
Register Number: E52A
District and Subdistrict: 0811E
Entry Number: 7

There was a Barnes/Redfern child born in Chesterfield RD in 1945 with the first name of one of Hilda's sisters - but may be coincidence;
