Jessie Catherine Snowdon (nee Donaldson)

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Yvonne Report 31 Mar 2020 22:35

If anyone has a world membership to Ancestry I would be very grateful if they could look at the entry for Jessie under the NY Episcopal Diocese of NY Church Records 1767-1970.

I have Jessie going to NY in 1910 from Liverpool but I can't find a return to Liverpool, where she died in 1919 in Liverpool.

Thank you.

Thanks greyghost. This is Jessie's son and he was a storekeeper on the ships, Minnie was a stewardess.
James lived in Liverpool and died there. I can't think why Jessie was visiting NY.

Yvonne Report 31 Mar 2020 23:20

Thanks again greyghost. Yes, that is definitely her in 1911 and she died in Liverpool in 1919. Maybe she was just visiting the newly weds, but it was a year after the marriage!

MargaretM Report 1 Apr 2020 01:18

According to the record of her arrival in New York in 1910 she was going to visit her daughter Mrs, G?. A. Skinner/Skenner?, 194 East 31st. Street, Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY.

Yvonne Report 1 Apr 2020 07:08

Thanks Margaret. Where did you find that record ... I think she did have a daughter, Gertrude.

Dawn Report 1 Apr 2020 08:20

Jessie C Snowdon left Liverpool 09.08.1910 on the SS Carmania and arrived back in Liverpool on 23.10.1910 again on the SS Carmania. Both passenger lists are on Ancestry.

Passport application got Gertrude Skinner and her daughter Beatrice, aged 12.
Reason for passport is to go to Liverpool for her mother's illness.

You can look on for travel to New York. You can see the passenger manifest which is possibly where MargaretM found she was going to visit her daughter.

Snowdon, Jessie C.
Liverpool, England

MargaretM Report 1 Apr 2020 15:52

Actually, alviegal, I got the passenger info from Ancestry. On the original note the line number then go to next page to see more details.

Yvonne Report 1 Apr 2020 19:00

You guys are wonderful. I could only find the outgoing passenger manifest on Ancestry and anything else it said I needed a World sub which I don't have. The passport application for Gertrude was interesting too because her mother died shortly after in September 1919.

Thanks so much.
