In case Trudy comes back to this, no-one mentioned in 2015 that there was no formal adoption until the late 1920’s, so any ‘arrangement’ would have been informal, and as he kept his birth name, the story may be just that - a story |

A tree on Ancestry gives Elizabeth Isabell Riddett as Daniel's wife although I cannot see a marriage for them. (1911 census says married 29 years). |

There is actually only one family living at No 7 Exeter Rd on 1911 census - that is the Sellman family. |
