Have you got the will of Henry Tolson 1809? |

Peter | Report | 14 Sep 2014 10:46 |
Gritty - thank you so much for the marriage! Where on earth did you find this? I think you've just taken my family tree back another generation! I've looked and looked for a marriage before but nothing. |

I'll send you the Tolson Will and the marriage bonds- although I'm not sure at he moment if the will is related to your family. |

Thank you - for more information, the back of the administration states: |

On another note, thank you for the marriage bond - I think this is the bridegroom and the bride's father. Not sure though - wow, where did you get this? |

The records are on ancestry- I've had problems with the will and can only download the first page. |

Mary the daughter (1790-1869) married William Tennat in Barony near Glasgow in 1826. They had two children ... Henry and Isabella. Mary had a relative Sarah Halliday staying with her in 1851 (a granddaughter from her illegitimate daughter Jane Pooley born 1810 in Carlisle). In 1851/1861 Mary states she was born in Cockermouth, and her death certificate states she was the widow of William Tennant, a weaver. |

Ah Flip - a connection! Wow, thank you ... I'm still in the 1790s, not got that far yet! |

So would it be fair to assume that Mary Tolson and John Poole where the parents of Henry Poole(y), born c. 1767 and who is mentioned in the 1845 administration? |

This is one of Mary/John's children mentioned in the will: |

Hmmmm a little confusing. What do you think from here? Am I jumping too far ahead at the moment? |

Gritty | Report | 14 Sep 2014 12:17 |
I think you maybe getting too far ahead! I'm not sure the Tolson lot are related to your Pooles, I think it's going to take some work |

How have you linked your Mary Poole to Joseph Poole to know you are looking at the same family? |

Thank you Gritty. Hmmm, interesting and thank you for your honesty. I am not afraid of the work to confirm but how would be best to do so? |

Any ideas if this is worth pursuing? |

Flip | Report | 14 Sep 2014 13:10 |
Well, difficult to prove without finding them actually together - or mentioned in one or the others wills. Joseph was only on one census stating born Bolton, the other 2 I think were Cumberland. |
