Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find when and where my mother , Georgina Lilian Page, was born. Estimated to be about 1897 1899. From her marriage certificate I see that her father's name was Henry Page. She is not shown in the 1901 or 1911 Census.
Family folklore is that she was born on a ship from India where her father was "with" the Indian Army. She was married twice and Henry's profession was listed on one marriage certificate as an Electrical Engineer and the other, Interpreter.

Very difficult to do Family History research if you can't go beyond your mother!!!

Unfortunately, Lilian Georgina born Mar 1899 Lambeth is not her, neither is Lilian Emily . Lilian Emily married someone called Gent and she was still alive under this name in 1951 when her father, Henry J Page wrote his will.

Georgina Lilian died 5 May 1958 in Southend under the names Winifred Lillian Mitchell. She had given the hospital these names on admittance. I visited her in hospital and registered her death. So I know it was my mother. I have all the certificates for the birth of her nine children from her two marriges and also details from London Polling registers, all of which show her as Georgina Lilian.

Any ideas where I can look up maritime births?

Gary - did your mother have any siblings that you are aware of?

The National Archives link refers you to the indices on FindMyPast so I checked them out.

There are "At Sea" births which cover 1854 to 1887 so they're too old.

The Maritime Births covers 1867 to 1960 - there are 2 Page births in 1893 and one in 1895, no gender or first names stated.

You say your grandfather Henry J Page was still alive in 1951 - have you thoroughly researched him? If not can you give us his birth and death years?

Many thanks. I am beginning to think that I should examine the India records to try to track down my grandfather HENRY PAGE. The Henry J Page I referred to was not my grandfather. he was the father of Lilian Emily Page who some people have mistaken for Georgina Lilian Page. I used Henry J Page's will to show that Lilian Emily and Georgina Lilian were not one and the same person.

Do you know anything else about her father?

Why do you think she used Winifred Lilian when she entered hospital?

My apologies I missed out the answer in my last posting. No I have no knowledge of her having any brothers or sisters. The only thing I know about my Grandfather, Henry Page is that he was shown as being an Electrical Engineer when Georgina married her first husband on the 28 May 1919 and as an Interpreter when Georgina married my father on the 2nd June 1928.
