Ela Report 10 Feb 2014 20:51

Hi Roy,

The only imformation is limited ,
it came from William Dickie's war papers.
He joined in 1915 in Glasgow.
but ended up in Lincoln England , with another woman in 1918.
I wondered about his life before , and if He went back to his wife and children.

The best way to clarify that his war record is correct is to start by getting a copy of his marriage cert, Scotish certs give more info than England and Wales certs

scotlands people is a pay per view site you need to buy credits to see the certs so i don't think anyone else will spend their money looking for you,

alviegal,

If that is his death, then He never returned to his wife and children.

One son James Dickie , that his father says was born 19th July 1903 ,

may have come to Lincoln at some point around 1920s. and married my relative.

I have a week of work, and I am trying to nail William's family down, what a start, been on the computer for 10 hours on and off :-S :-0 :-0

On earlier census George is listed as a Fancy Box maker, so just guessing it is probably some sort of wood turning machine?

The marriage certificate was available online from Scotlandspeople. You can look on there for William's birth and his pafrents marriages and deaths. £7 for 30 credits. 1 credit to view search results and 5 to view / download certificate.

rootgatherer Report 10 Feb 2014 22:20

Well, just to make your head buzz even more..........William's father George was born in Ayrshire and there are quite a few Dickies in that area. And loads of Wilsons (his mother's maiden surname) in Ayrshire too.

Cumera Machine Man is probably mistranscribed and should be Camera Machine Man
