Looks like I am never going to find where Caroline disappeared to wether she came back to Britain or stayed in USA.

Mary ann's maiden name was Adamson.then she married Arthur Wright in York.he died 1890 then she married Harry Smith 1893.

Sue, I thought Mary Ann Smith was her name after her remarriage?

So if her maiden name wasn't Brown then do you know what it was?

Mary Ann was actually SMITH not Brown.
Maybe they didn't want Harry Smith on their marriage cert.

Arthur Wright died Dec qtr 1890 just after Caroline was born.

Hello Sue, what was the name of Selina and Caroline's father (might help if a father named on a marriage record).

EDIT: Doesn't matter! I see from Selina's marriage that their parents were Arthur Wright and Mary Ann Brown.

I am helping a friend to do her family tree.

Her great Aunt Caroline Wright born 1890 Leeds.went with her sister (Selina Stead)and brother in law (Matthew Stead) to USA aboard the Franconia departing Liverpool 29 April 1913 going to Boston USA.

What I would like the details of is

Did Caroline marry in USA ??

if not

then what year did she come back to England

I have looked and sent for 2 marriage certs in LEEDS England for a Caroline Wright(birth year above. But they are both wrong.

So if someone could please look for a marriage in USA for Caroline.

There's a tree on ancestry has Selina's death as 1 November 1934 in Lawrence, MA

Looks like one of the better researched trees, they have sources on all records - except that one.

EDIT:
Looking at the blurb for Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988 it says "Not every type of record will be available for every town or year" so perhaps it's slipped through the net.

The Massachusetts Death Index only starts at 1970.

Ann - I tried that site once - absolute rip-off, full of false matches!

Have also searched Ancestry worldwide which does have MA records and she's not coming up.

Meanwhile, I notice Matthew sometimes has middle initial T:
