Hello, I have a Thomas H. Robson born 1849 in Newcastle, Northumberland. On the 1901 census it is recorded he is a nephew of the Head. I have this man born out of wedlock and I am very interested to know who else is on the census with him and the relationship details which may get me a bit nearer to discovering the truth.

If it is then the certificate should name his mother and if he was illegitimate then his middle name "Humble" could be his father's surname.

Thank you for that, I will certainly check.

I believe his father to be Shield, but of the three children he had whilst married to others is the only one not using his surname.

I wondered if Mary Mitchell was the boy's mother, but then again, he is not on this census with the "mother"
