Richard Green was born abt 1849 and John abt 1847 both in Atherton lancs.Mother was Ann Green and father was William Marsh [we think] who was lodging with Ann on the 1851 census .I believe I asked this before and you gave me the info .William was the brother of my G/G/Grandfather John marsh.I cannot find either Richard or John or even Ann Green on the 1861/71 census ,none that are close .I have Riachard on the 1881 and 1891 married to a Betty Woodward ,as on the 1881 Ann Woodward is the step Daughter of Richard .I have lloked for the Marriage of richard and Betty but no luck .On the 1881 census Samuel Green looks like their first child born abt 1869. |

as this is presumably Ann's birth reg, her mother's maiden name was Woodward which seems to indicate that Betty had not been married before and that Ann was illegitimate |
