I think Thomas W J P Goldsmith-Ryan died in 1945, that's all the information I have. I think he could have been born before 1905, I have found birth records for Margaret L K Goldsmith-Ryan, whose mother's maiden name is Surman. I believe the above was married to Lillian Surman. |

Possibly, her age would be 5 years out, is that a normal discrepancy? |

The sisters of Thomas WJP were born as Goldsmith-Ryans in 1921 and 1927, do you think 'Goldsmith' was put in as a middle name rather than a surname by mistake on his record? I doubt they would change their name back? I think the mother was Lillian Surman. |

I've found a Thomas G Ryan who died in Barnstaple in 1946, I think that's him as he lived at least part of his life in North Devon. I still don't know how to find his parents though! |

Thank you, last one is definitely him, the others could be, the date I've been given for his birth is 1905 but he seems to have had a kid in 1921 so I wouldn't be surprised if he was born earlier. Where was it you found this? |

You'll probably have to order his birth certificate, this will tell you his parents names. |
