HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 26 Oct 2012 19:34

Oh Liz - how true!!! I am waiting for a will...Grand uncle married in 1900. Have him in 1911 "married" but no sign of wife. Have found her in Bury with a dentist from Newport - claims to have been married for 10 years..no marriage...because she was certainly still married to my grand uncle.....and I am hoping to prove that he died away from his family with a barmaid working for him and his wife in 1901!!!!!!!!!!!

They certainly were and probably still are.
I'm sure nobody ever thought how relatively easy it would be for their families in the future to dig into their past and find out all these 'skeletons in the closet.'
I'm sure they all had their reasons but they would never have dreamed about computers and the internet and all these records becoming available. makes life very interesting for us though.

Thanks Choccy,

Can't wait to renew my sub so that I can have a look ,isn't it funny how secret's can be kept in a family. My Nan must have known that her dad remarried,as my Mum told me before she died that her mum used to take the grandchildren over to see him.My Mum was to little to remember much about it,except that my Nan kept the visits secret from her Mum!
What a secretive lot they were!

Hi,
thanks for looking,I just found it my self as well.

I shall order the marriage cert and the death cert, that should sort it out.

My cousin's will have a canary fit! Oh well, the truth will out as they say.
My Granddad was by all account's a "bit of a lad" although my Nan did go to his funeral or so I'm told. He was always a mystery to me,as he died two years before I was born.

I will post the out come

Yes
The marriage is the marriage of Frank to my Nan Jane.

His father married Catherine Graham, but he died 1920

His cousin married an Ethel Haythorn.
Maybe my Grt Granddad had a common law wife and didn't actually marry her.

I'm a bit stupid really,I should buy his death cert and see who the informant is.
Sorry about any spelling errors,I can't think straight!

Mine is the 1899 one,the other one is his cousin, but he died in 1965.The other Francis Emerson on the records is my Great Granddad's father who died in 1920.

I never heard of him remarrying, but, my Nan divorced him due to his indescresions shall we way.
My goodness! it does look like him!

Gosh,
my mind is spinning out a bit. This name is a family name and I've only come across it in relation to my family.

Perhaps I've missed someone out on my tree?

Thank you,

My Granddad did die in 1957. I think there must have been two people with the same name, unless he remarried after his divorce from my Nan.
mmm,I shall have to look into it more.

Thanks again
