A lot of men (including my grandfather) were missing from the 1901 census because they were in South Africa during the Boer War.

ooops i am aware that i have said the 1st ww,but would there have been something els going on that he could have been involved in as i have come across a whole bunch of men between the ages of 18-30 who just seem to vanish from the 1901 census and i have often wondered where they went...

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 23 Oct 2012 10:34

When do you think he died..............if you're sure it wasn't when he was young.

You must have a reason for making that statement

Have you found all other family members in censuses subsequent to 1891?

cane
