Yes That is all correct. Ruth died in 1917 Eva was two. William John Cotter remarried Annie Axworthy . Bernard died very young. Dont know what happened to Albert.

Flip Report 14 Oct 2012 09:23

Did Eva tell you about her childhood? This is the only Ruth Cotter I can see in 1911 - but no sign of husband:

Ruth Cotter
Age in 1911: 25
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1886
Relation to Head: Wife
Gender: Female
Birth Place: Exeter
Civil parish: Plymouth
County/Island: Devon
Country: England
Street Address: 1 Summerland Street, Plymouth
Marital Status: Married
Occupation: House Wife
Registration district: Plymouth
Registration District Number: 276
Sub-registration district: Plymouth South West
ED, institution, or vessel: 8
Household schedule number: 363
Piece: 12984
Household Members: Name Age
Ruth Cotter 25
Albert Cotter 4
John Cotter 1

John's birth was registered under Cotter, but there is no birth for Albert. However on the census she states married 3 years, and there are 2 Albert LLoyds reg Plymouth around the right time.

Added: in 1901 there were 2 John Cotters on the census - one is on 1911 with wife Ellen, the other is missing. He was onboard a ship in 1901, so this may explain his absence.

It's sad if this is correct, Bernard was born in Sept quarter, mmn LLoyd

A few birth and marriage certificates are always useful, and interesting.

Eva Cotter whose mother was Ruth Lloyd was my oldest living relative. She died last week aged 97. Samuel Lloyd was her brother. I have a photo of him and Florence. That is all I have.

Think this might be Florence Mary as Mary, but could be totally unrelated:

Which of the family is your ancestor - ie who have you worked back from?

Lima100

Lima100 Report 14 Oct 2012 08:25

Sadly no! Dont know if they had children. If she is the above she would have been 42 when they married! Dont think ill get any further without the marriage certificate.

patchem

patchem Report 14 Oct 2012 08:21

Have you got any birth information for Samuel and Florence's children?

Flip Report 14 Oct 2012 08:08

Is this Florence's death - is so, she may have been a widow when she married Samuel:

Florence M J Lloyd
Birth Date: abt 1881
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1947
Age at Death: 66
Registration district: Plympton
Inferred County: Devon

Lima100 Report 14 Oct 2012 08:01

Your right! I dont know he was the oldest child. Mary had 12 children according to the 1911 census. Only ten names accounted for!

patchem

patchem Report 14 Oct 2012 07:54

Because of the different birth places and the common names I think you definitely need the birth certificate of one of the children to work out the parents' marriage details.

If you cannot find the marriage, how do you know that William was the oldest child?

Flip

Flip Report 14 Oct 2012 07:53
