I am seeking the parents/siblings of Martha Bailey. Her daughter's birth cert states that she was born at Onneley but I can find no trace. I believe that in the 1881 Census, she is a domestic servant in the household of farmers Thomas and Margaret Rawes, Whitmore

Martha Bailey is the mother of Lucy Jane Bailey whose birth certificate I have-Lucy was born at Onneley Aug 1881. Martha is listed as her mother but there is no father's name given. Martha is described as a domestic servant and the 1881 Census shows her as a domestic servant at the farm of the Rawes family, Maer/Whitmore. Can find no certain trace of Martha before or after 1881.Thanks for the reply

The Evans family in census 1891.? Martha's birthplace is given as Market Drayton, but note place of birth for daur Lucy 'Evans'.

Also note large gap in children between Lucy c1882 (pre-marriage)? and next child Mabel c1890 (post marriage).

Census 1891:

Address: Chester Road, Audley County: Staffordshire

EVANS, Thomas Head Married M 27 1864 Coal MinerAudlem, Cheshire

Census 1901 note Martha's birthplace is now Onneley, which ties in with Martha's birthplace as given in the 1881 census record Sandra mentioned.

So now you know Martha's father was Samuel from the marriage I posted previously, which is now looking likely to be correct.

Census 1901:

Address: Chester Road, Audley County: Staffordshire

EVANS, Thomas Head Married M 37 1864 Coal Miner Nantwich, Cheshire
EVANS, Martha Wife Married F 38 1863 Ormelly Nr Market Drayton, Staffordshire

You could send for Martha's marriage cert which would probably give father Samuel's occupation and make it easier to cross reference with the census.

EDIT, Note the 8 children of the 22 yr marriage. These are accounted for by Mabel, Eliza, John, William, Muriel, Florence, Hannah, and Jane.

So one of the parents brought Lucy with them into the marriage, and my money is on Martha...

Maybe my possible sighting in 1871 previously posted was not such a red herring after all?

Woore, though Shropshire, is VERY close to both Onneley and Mucklestone!

Living in Mucklestone at age 7 days with father named SAMUEL...

Don't blame you MC, but that seems to have been a looseness in transcription, there's nothing on the original image , only the first child is described as a scholar there.

I have to head off for work now, but maybe someone else could look into the family of Samuel and Eliza Bailey before and after 1861?
