No luck on Ellen, but oldest child William Matthew turns up in Greenwich from 1930 at 12 Selcroft Road.

Hi Douglas,

Did you have any full siblings, or just half siblings from your mother's previous marriage, and were there any siblings from your father's side? Looking at the ERs for London it would appear she was still with her first husband until 1926, and there is no sign of a divorce for them.

I'm not trying to be nosey, but it may help to pinpoint your fathers birth, possible previous marriage etc, then be able to look for a death. Without knowing his age this is impossible at the moment, and as you appreciate there are a lot of John Alfred Wright births so pinpointing the right one is impossible.

Bit more info from Douglas. Turns out John Alfred recorded his address as 50 Invicta Road in the autumn of 1926 - where Ellen was.

In 1923-25 he is listed with Lily Wrignt (his wife??) and Charles Wright (his son??), at 12 Guild Road, Greenwich. In spring 1926 with Lily Wright, Edith Fairy May & Margetts Herbert at 40 Old Dover Road. (No Charles) - although I can't find this one.

I'm not getting any further with this, so if anyone has any ideas?

It's one step forward and two steps back with this one!

If Charles Wright was the son, then to be on the ER he'd have to be 21 or over. So, born no later than 1902. That would be pushing it (but not impossible) if John Alfred was born c1886.

Has John Alfred's age just been assumed as being the same as Ellen's?

Hi MC, yes I think the age is just a guess. If you look at the ERs, John Alfred is listed first, followed by Lily (qualifies by HO or husbands occupation) then Charles who is only eligible for parliamentary elections by residency.
