So, are you saying that you know your Grandfather John Wilson married someone called Flo/Florence after he was widowed? |

Yes that is what I understand - my great grandfather (John Wilson) married again after the death of his first wife (Flo became my grandfather's stepmother). Flo having been married before is also a possibility - which could be why I cannot find a birth to tie a John Wilson/Florence Somebody marriage to a Roy Wilson birth. |

Is it safe to assume he had no middle name? |

Youre going to have to buy the marriage certificate |

If John Wilson had a middle name (which I haven't confirmed) it would most likely be Charles - married as John Wilson and his name is shown as John Wilson on my grandfather's birth certificate. |

Mmmm probably right - it may need the marriage certificate, but was holding off on that as couldn't connect a marriage and a birth, but if she was married before then that could mean the Wilson/Burton marriage and the Wilson/Willingale birth. |

Yes that is what I am going to do now - slow computer responses permitting. As to assuming he did not have a middle name, I now no longer assume anything - even what they put on certificates and census returns |
