I'm stumped too. I don't suppose the witnesses to the marriage hold any clues? |

My great Grandfather, Reuben Hughes, is proving to be a bit of an enigma. We can't find any mention of him prior to the 1871 census, where he was lodging with his future in-laws in Madeley, Shrops. His date of birth depends on which census viewed (1845 - 1852!), but we think it's around the latter half of 1851. Apparently born in Dudley, Staffs, he married Isabella York in 1873 (age on certificate 21) and went to live in Pendlebury, Salford, Lancs, where he was a coal miner. He died in 1895, age given as 44. His father is Thomas Hughes and his mother may be Mary, but not certain on that. |
