Cant see her leaving the UK as Swankie did she marry ?

NOTE the name of Clementina Young 67 maybe thats where the younger Clementina got her name from

Not seeing Clementine/Clementina on the 1901census

Thank you so much for finding all that information. Very frustrating not being able to trace Clementina. I dont know if she got married, but I had a search and didnt find anything. Her mother Isabella remarried after David died in 1898. Her new husband was called John Pert and I even tried searching under Clementina Pert but to no avail. perhaps thats why the family seemed to separate, as I know Isabella and John had a son and a daughter.

Just posting for reference Katrina. It is a mystery where Clementina is. She should be somewhere on the 1901 as she is surely not going to emigrate at the age of 12!

I'm actually wondering about this one. I can't find any other records for a Christiana and ancestry are notoriously bad at transcribing Scottish records. You may want to see the image yourself but you would need to buy credits on scotlandspeople.

I think Gush /Gash Farm was in Letham about 5 miles from Forfar and 10 miles from Arbroath.

If you follow this link http://www.scottish-places.info/counties/countyhistory14.html, you will see there is a hill called Gash in Forfarshire. Maybe the farm was near here??

Betty Swankie, who married Mr Littlejohn in 1924 (see Anne's post above) was the daughter of Mr J S Swankie of Arbroath.

I had a look at some other trees to see if I could work at a Swankie/ Cargill marriage or connection.

I gave up. There are far too many inter- connecting marriages in Arbroath and St Vigeans, Angus to make any definitive decision.
