i am stuck with henry now i have got that he married jane davy and have found the children but cannot find his parents, if anyone could start me off i would be grateful

Just an update, i did indeed have the wrong parents for george andrews as his marriage certificate confirmed his father was Henry andrews, now back to the drawing board!

yes the death certificate was right and i am sending for the marriage one today

So at the end of the day it's hardly surprising that the later family didn't know if they were Sleight/Slight or Shaw. But it means that the George Andrews born in Tetford in 1879 the son of Henry and Jane is the father of the 3 children and your ancestor.

And in turn it means that this is George Junior with his grand parents in 1911

Ah. Herbert had a sister Margaret E born in Asgarby in 1885.

She is with her parents as Shaw in 1891 but in 1901 she has become Sleight.I'm sure it's the same person. I wonder why??

I have to go out but will come back to this later.

It seems more than likely that Lorraine has linked to the wrong parents for George.

Her direct relative Ada Margaret is with Bertha and Herbert Shaw but it is not Bertha Andrews which is where the confusion arises. She was Bertha Fotherby and she married Herbert Shaw in 1907. She was born in Haddington in 1886 to parents Joseph and Jane.

Ivy ? 1907 i am not sure where she was born but i assume somewhere in lincolnshire as Ada Margaret was born 1908 in glanford brigg
George Andrews 1880 is the son of Thomas Andrews ansd Mary Tindall (assuming i am right) and georges grandfather was Edward 1805 who married Harriet Vine.
I havent got the marriage certificate for margaret and george perhaps i ought to purchase it?

I don't think the Ivy in Dunholme is yours as she appears to be with her father George born in Tetford in 1879. We know that your George is at home with his parents in 1911.

When and where were George and Ivy born?
Do you have the marriage certificate of George to Margaret Sleight to confirm that he is the son of Edward?

what i find odd about george is that he married margaret sleight who died oct 1908 my grandmother ada margaret andrews was born feb 1908 but i cant find where she was on the 1911 census nor her brother george .i think i found her elder sister ivy in dunmore Lincoln if anyone can shed any light on this it would be great
