Frederick Arthur Simmonds born Tottenham 1886, married to Lavinia E Lawrence in TOTTENHAM about 1917. Had a child Gladys Irene in 1918 (in Edmonton). Frederick Arthur Simmonds is named as her Father, occupation Leather worker (Army Pensioner). Does that mean he was invalided out of army?? |

Did you check Freebmd? I did find these on Ancestry, but they should be on there too: |

As his wife had an unusual name, have you looked for anything about her - death, re-marriage? |

I think you are right Christine - she was def. Lavinia Emma, as no doubt you have seen! I found her 1911 too and the YOB is right. |

Wow, thanks everyone. Food for thought! Will digest this lot. Forgot about Freebmd - thanks for the reminder. The 1944 Paddington death defo not him. Daughter's marriage in 1940 - already deceased then. I am surprised at the Reg district of Stepney if the other one is him, but then, I never cease to be surprised with all this! |

I have to ask Pat, the aunt's name wasn't Doris was it by any chance? I had to ask because my aunt died (and the death registered) in a hospital having a brain tumour operation 35 miles from where she lived. I assume that it's a coincidence but had to ask. |

My husband's aunt was Rose who had the brain tumour, sister of his father. His mother's sister was a Doris. Her death was natural causes. |

Thank you Pat, what a coincidence. My aunt Doris also had a sister Rose. Actually she was Florence Rose but always known as Rose. |
