Find Ancestors

I have got stuck unfortunately. Andrew Duncan (1955), son of George Brian and Alma Duncan. I am trying to find out further back from George Brians dad, William Duncan who married Frances Eastwood.

I beleive William may have been from Sunderland, but the trails to his father and mother collapse, there are however links to the ship building industry. I am in too deep i fear.

Can anyone help?

Have you got certificates for marriages and births, and some indication of when William Duncan was born?

Then Francis Muriel Duncan went on to marry Arthur G Pocock??

Sorry for been so, erm, stupid, im new to this and its messing with my head the further i go back. I hadn't realised that William George Duncan had died so early, 1895 I THINK, TO 1931.

It is everything from this man William G Duncan that is confusing, i just cant find where he came from.

You see i thought he'd been born in 1895, but now i think i may have been barking up the wrong tree i shall have a rumage. thing is i donk have a clue what his mothers maiden name was

Have you got his marriage certificate (for his Father's name)?

No unfortunately. Everyone is dead on that side of the family, and no one ever saved documents in the family. I wish they had. I wish stuff like that was easily obtainable. :-(

wow, thats a lot of effort you've gone to. i will keep you up-dated for i have ordered william g duncan and francis eastwood marriage certificate to get the father and familly names.

Paul, when you say huge cost, which price did you look at?

The cost of a full certificate, including postage, is £9.25 if you use the standard service.

The cost of a commemorative certificate, or the priority service is £23.40.

hi paul was just a long shot i went with connection to ship buildingas the father on household is ships engine fitter and on the 1901williams father is also a ships joiner
but i could be wrong
