Thank you those who took the trouble to look up; Martha Ellen was my great grandma,I found her marriage certificate, that's how I knew her father's name. I found her on the 91 and 01 census but not on the earlier ones that would link her with the name of her father. Frustrating as I'm keen to trace my female line now that I've got a grandaughter. Thank you Sylvia and Reggie, I did send for the birth certificate but like you said the father didn't match up. I've traced a lot of my fathers side of the family but it wasn't until I read an article about the female genome running through daughters that I would have liked to know who my great grandmothers were, unfortunately I don't think I ever will...you are so kind though for your help |
