Hi I've only found Mary in the census already mentioned. She was born Mary Nicholson but stayed with her grandparents a lot who were Castles so was often thought of as Castle also.

Hi,
sorry had to be away from the computer for a while.Thank you for all the help. Marys was definitely born Nicholson and on the 1891 census with Ebor aged 1 (my grandfather) Joseph is listed as stepson. Both Joseph and John are later staying at Mary and Josephs home as adults with Johns wife Susan. For a long time I thought Patrick Rayhill and Mary Morgan were the correct family but Morgan is the wrong maiden name and her birth year was way out. Also there were too many siblings in that family. Coincidentally though on Johns marriage cert of 1898 his father was a shoemaker the same as Patrick Rayhill. I also have struggled to find any marriage info between Joseph Benson and Mary Nicholson.
All very complicated and not sure I will ever get too the truth but appreciate all the suggestions.
