Hi,

Is someone able to do a 1861 census search for me please. - I have te 1841, 1851 and 1871 but want to confirm things by checking the 1861.

Father - George Hambidge - 1810 - Eaton Hastings, Berkshire
Mother - Rachel Hambidge - 1810 - Faringdon
children on this one may be Harriett 1849, Elizabeth 1848 and Lousia/Leuthace 1847 - if anyone could check this child names as seems different on each census.

Many thanks, Sarah

Thats great, many thanks.
Did you have any luck with George at all as I know he was still alive.

looking at the original it says George was married, not a widower!!!!

um think George and Rachel certainly seems an odd couple. Not sure if you are aware of my other thread but Rachel was married to George's older brother before he died and she then started living with George and they had a family together. As marrying your deceased husband's brother was illegal she is listed on census reports differently i.e. housekeeper etc but in 1861 and 1871 census they are bother saying they are married. No one has been able to trace an actual marriage record thought so maybe they were just pretending as such.
Thanks, Sarah
