um think George and Rachel certainly seems an odd couple. Not sure if you are aware of my other thread but Rachel was married to George's older brother before he died and she then started living with George and they had a family together. As marrying your deceased husband's brother was illegal she is listed on census reports differently i.e. housekeeper etc but in 1861 and 1871 census they are bother saying they are married. No one has been able to trace an actual marriage record thought so maybe they were just pretending as such. |
