it is only for a limited number of churches in the manchester/Salford area and the images have to be trawled through (browse images on familysearch).

Unfortunately Salford St George is not one of the churches at present

Thanks PricklyHolly

It does seem he remarried. The first marriage was to Mary Jane Hope in 1894. She died in 1900.

With yours and Andys Help I think I am getting there.

That tree also has Francis and Mary arriving in the USA in 1905.........and as they don't appear in the 1911 census, i would say it's correct.

Jane Report 31 Jul 2012 09:12

I've just Checked FreeBMD. There is a death for an Elizabeth Halliday aged one in Salford in Dec 1901which would agree with the tree on Ancestry. This means that the top Tree is probably mine.

Thanks Andy

Oh that would put a spanner in the works then wouldnt it. She couldn't marry Harold if she was dead.

Oh well I will keep looking

Thanks for your help Andy

A tree on Ancestry has the Elizabeth born to Francis and Mary dying in 1901, but you need to check details for yourself.

James is shown born Salford, Francis in Birkenhead, so unlikely to be immediate family.

I think the marriage cert for Elizabeth in 1923 is your best bet.

PS

I wonder if Francis (In the lower census) and James in the top census were brothers. I will have to investigate.

Please can someone find Elizabeth Halliday on the 1901 census for Salford, lancashire. I know very little about this person except that she married Dec 1923 in Salford to Harold S Chorley.

I believe she was born about 1900 in Salford.

Thank you for your help
