The Royal Naval Reserve in both world wars were professional sailors from the Merchant Navy and fishing fleets.called up for the duration of hostilities (Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve were civilians). The main function of HM Trawlers was minesweeping, manned by fishermen as the two activities were similar. |
