I've no trouble thinking Nancy McLatchy Abby, the former Agnes Irving was Scottish in origin.
However, her 1851 McLatchy neighbours are Irish, and on other censuses, every McLatchy I've seen was protestant, so maybe they're Ulster Scots.
(A minor 1851 point - neighbour John Sr, who could well be her f-i-l, immig 1811 from NS. His wife Nancy could well be her former hubby's step-mum. Anyways, until the Dominion of Canada was formed 1/7/1867, British North America was just a collection of seperate colonies.
(ON & QC together formed the United Province of Canada), so immig from one colony to another makes sense.
One sees the date of the 1851 census as 12/1/1852 - this is an Ottawa-centric view. It might be the case for ON/QC, but the enumerators' completed schedules were turned in by 1/11/1851 in NB )
So an 1845 marr seems reasonable, but in NB - not Canada (at that date Actually, I've often wondered what one does abt boundary changes like that - my bro was born in Paddington, London, but if my grandad were born in exactly the same place, it would have been Paddington, Middx - so what county should I have said for him? - the question does arise for my grandad's bro - with a less well-known county boundary change).

I guess her name was Irving, but my g gran had 3 bros (well half-brothers really) and all 4 had difft surnames.

Thankyou mgnv.....Lots to work with here! Is it possible to find a marriage for Nancy McLatchy? Her husband would have been Scottish I think? They would have married around 1845 at a guess ( in Canada ) Or even a death for him. putting that at around early 1850's after last child born?

HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY WALTER M 1874 37 Kidderminster Worcestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY MATILDA F 1881 30 Kidderminster Worcestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY WALTER M 1905 6 Kidderminster Worcestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY MATILDA F 1906 5 Kidderminster Worcestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY FRED M 1907 4 Kidderminster Worcestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY MARY F 1909 2 Kidderminster Worcestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCLATCHY HOARCE M 1910 1 Kidderminster Worcestershire

I had a look 1901-1926 for all BMDs regoed for McLatchy in Kidderminster.
Every event was just indexed under one surname.

They confirm SylviaIC's tree list thru 1926 - there were 2 omissions & 1 oddity:

Births Jun 1916 (>99%)
McLatchy Margaret G Pickering Kidderminster 6c 160
Deaths Mar 1920 (>99%)
McLatchy Margaret 3 Kidderminster 6c 113

Births Sep 1918 (>99%)
Pickerin Archie McL Pickerin Kidderminster 6c 127

Hopewell is at the mouth of the Petitcodiac River, and Dorchester is across the river to the East.
Like most rivers off the Bay of Fundy, it has a tidal bore - the mud banks of the river look like molten chocolate.

There are 2 poss Josephine Hoars in 1871
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1871/pdf/4396319_00166.pdf
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1871/pdf/4396319_00292.pdf

I favour the second - the first is a servant in Coverdale - midway between Moncton & Salisbury, but on the S (Albert Co) bank of the river.
The second is with a family in Hillsborough - 25 km from Moncton on the road to Hopewell Cove - abt 10km from latter.

The real reason I favour the 2nd is an Ag Lab on the previous image, in Henry & Nancy Addy's h/h.
Also note the h/h next door to Hoars:
http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1871/pdf/4396319_00291.pdf

Albert & Westmorland together form a squarish chunk.
Albert Co is a squarish Co in the SE corner of this chunk - the river forms its N & E boundary with Westmorland Co.

I'm inclined to discount a marr to Rober Bussby (surely that's a typo for Robert, or maybe even Roger).
I believe Josie's 1901 b'day (15/10/1855), so I think she's just too young to be on her 2nd marr on 30/6/1872.

Now she's Walt's mum, here're her other censuses, plus her ancestors:

Thanks everyone for the above info! Wish I could find Walter on the 1901 census UK....Then again I have found these census to be incorrect at times. As my own family of Bowen were listed as Brown?

He is obviously in UK after sailing here and landing in Liverpool 1898. Or he may have been on another boat as a crew member? Would be interesting to know how he ended up in Worcester county?

Also would like to find more info on George McLatchy ( in Canada) Father of Walter McLatchy born 1873/1874.
He must have died as wife Josephine remarried to Wheaton.
It says Scottish Origin. Was George Scottish or was he born in Canada?

pm from Valarie

Thanks for info Jax. So do you think it was possible they married all those years later 1924? He died in 1926...Maybe they decided to marry as he was perhaps very ill? They had their first child in 1905? Possible I guess?

Thanks for the pm but could you reply on the thread by adding a reply in the white box at the bottom of the posts

As already mentioned he may have been married before or did'nt get around to it perhaps? I know my own 2x gt grandparents did'nt marry for 25 years and she died the following year...but it could have been just one of those things

there are several Public Family Trees on ancestry with Walter in them

All trees on ancestry must be regarded with some suspicion because peopel do tend to take information from other trees with no checking.

But you can use them as a good starting point.

One of the trees shows Walter and Matilda's children.

Parents

No Father
No Mother

Spouse & Children

Matilda Pickering 1880 – 1961

Walter William Mclatchy 1904 – 1976
Matilda E Mclatchy 1905 – 1961
Frederick McLatchy 1906 – 1985
Violet E R McLatchy 1908 – 1909
Mary Evelyn McLatchy 1909 – 1992
Horace Murdoch McLatchy 1910 – 2000
Thomas Sidney Mclatchy 1912 – 1994
Philip McLatchy 1914 – 1917
Archie Mclatchy 1918 – 1926

I suspect that one or both were married when they met and began to live together ........ otherwise why would they not marry until 1924.

Matilda is a Servant (possibly a patient) in a hospital in Salford in 1901
