My grandfather's name was Howell Lewis and he was born 16.08.1920.
His parents were Thomas Lewis and Margaret Lewis and they were born in Neath 1912.
Margaret Lewis died 10.02.1933 and she was 40 years old, it states on death certificate that she died at Blaennedd Isaf Farm, Ystradfellte. Therefore I believe that Margaret Lewis must have been born in 1892 or 1893. I had believed that Margaret was born at Bwlch just outside Brecon and her parents were Tegwen and Lewis Lewis but I cant seem to trace them on the census and I do not know where I am going wrong.

With a name like Lewis you really need to order his parents marriage certificate to confirm who their fathers were.

Thank you for all your great advice, I have sent for the marriage certificates and thank you for identifying the 1911 census as I could not locate it as Lewis Lewis is down as 55 which would make his birth 1856 when I believe that he was born in 1864.
The main problem that I have found is that my Lewis side of my family is a little difficult to locate. My Lewis side of the family are mainly from Ystradfellte area I believe.
I would apreciate any other advice and information.

Hi Alviegel,
You have put down two census' with different Lewis', but the funny thing is they are both census' of my family so that's why I am havig some difficulties as they are both my family but at times I am mixing them up.
My grandfather Howell Lewis' father was Thomas Lewis and they are from the ystradfellte and Howell Lewis' mother was Margarent Lewis and she was also from ystradfellte.
It was always believed that Howell's greatgrandmother's on his father's side (Elenor) and mother's side (Elizabeth) were sisters.
I have found that based on census' they are Eleanor born about 1827 in Llangynwyd and on another census Elizabeth born about 1819 in Llangynwyd. Although I cannot seem to trace them.
Can someone help me.

I believe you are related to my husband. Eleanor and Elizabeth's surname was Rees. They also had a brother Morgan who married Howel Lewis (Hendre Bolan's)sister Gwenllian. The parents were Morgan and Margaret Rees.There is a farm in Ystradfellte called Bwlch, so that may be where the confusion arose. Are you related to the Lewis' in Blaennedd now?

Thanks for the information, which is really useful. It was always a story within the family that it was believed that Eleanor and Elizabeth were sisters, but I was unable to link them correctly.
Yes I am related to the Lewis family in Blaennedd now. My parents live at Blaennedd Uchaf and I grew up there.
