Find Ancestors

I have been trying to trace the background of my great grandfather for about 5 years now. Other branches of my tree have fallen into place but I am at a loss with him.He was born around 1873 in Wispington Lincs and married Annie Asquith.His name was Samuel Reed and he lived most of his life in marshgate Doncaster but I cannot trace his parentage.
He and his large family were in the 1911 census in Marshgate but of his young life I just draw a blank.
Can anyone help please.
Sorry folks big error he was born around 1846 it was 1873 I believe when he married.

No I have not been able to find anything about them before they were married though I have her family traced .

I don't think the 1861 is him - there is another Samuel Reed who appears later in Sheffield as a draper's assistant.

I have seen the drapers assistant thread and am almost certain that is not him.
He did marry Ann Asquith.

Thanks so much it gives me a new avenue to follow as I have other descendants that I know hit a wall with him.

You really need his marriage cert for (hopefully!) the name of his father.

Going by the geography, I'd keep the Bucknall lead in mind. Searching for Sam* Re*d born 1845 +/- 5 years in Lincolnshire identifies 2 or 3 individuals:

1. Born in Sibsey about 1847, turns up in Sheffield in 1871 as the draper's assistant and then moves to Lancashire

2. Born in Bucknall about 1848, seen in 1851 and 1861 and then disappears.

3. Your man, born in Wispington, first seen in 1881.

Both Bucknall and Wispington are between Horncastle and Lincoln and only a matter of 4 miles or so apart. Sibsey, on the other hand, is about 20 miles further to the south east.

It might be worth following the Bucknall family to see if this chap can be eliminated.
