Find Ancestors

I have ordered the birth certicate for my Grandma Beeby (Denman) to look at her Mum's surname before married to my great grandfather Frederick Denman.

Recieved the cert yesterday morning and to my suspicous my great grandma's surname was Stubbings! Because a while ago I searched for my grandma's birth information to order the cert but in the end I did! Saw the information about her mum's surname. Now it has confirmed! I am happy to start on this family name.

So, I am starting to track the family started with Mary Ann Stubbings. I found her father, Llewellyn born in 1870, derbyshire. But I came to John Stubbings, Llewellyn's father, and I cant go any more further from John Stubbings, like as if his family disappear off the earth!

I found out that John's wife Mary has been remarried and to my suspect that John has died early before Llewellyn born. But I cant see any more children with John and Llewellyn was only one unless Mary has more children with other bloke.

Could you please look up on him for me?

So here is his details - John Stubbings, born in 1839 in Belper, derbyshire and married to Mary Ann Garton in 1868 in Belper.

I hope any of you can track down John's father and possible mother.

It could simply be that one name has been missed when the images were transcribed

All those questions you have asked how did I arrived at John's details? How did I find out that Mary eventually remarried.

All I did was tracked down Llewellyn's Mum who was Mary Ann Garton after I looked up on Mary Ann Stubbings and it started from that and went to Llewellyn and found out about his mum , then I hit dead block and saw someone's tree got similar infomation on llewellyn and so I contacted this person on Ancestry, and found out few stuff from him that matched few details on my family before I find out Mary has been re-married because he is not related to my family but related to Mary, and he got very small details on john and dont have any information on him such as his death and his family. He got marriage information for John and Mary.

Hi Nanaki, I think what's thrown people of track a bit is that you'd said John was born 1838 when the marriage record shows 1828.

The 1871 census shws Mary Ann as married, whereas the 1881 & 1891 show her as a widow (which wasn't mentioned above when it was stated she was still Stubbings).

This is a possibility for John's death, slightly out of area:

Ok I could be wrong about his birth date.

But I will type up what I have got on Ancestry.

I have got Mary Ann Stubbings born in 1904 married to Frederick Denman they both lived in
Heanor (thats where I come from originally), and found Mary's Dad Llewellyn stubbings born in 1870 and I also found his christening where it shown up as John Stubbings as his father.

That probably explained why I cant find John maybe because of wrong birth date because I know nothing about him.

Sorry about that.

As John does not appear on census returns with family, you have no way of knowing where he was born.

Because I have his marriage information to Mary ann and he was married to her when he was 29 and I worked out roughly from the date he was married to her in 1868 and it worked out that John born in around 1837? If he was married to her and born in 1827 that would mean he would be 39?
