Need a quick check please on Hannah Taylor b. 1889 and Christiana Taylor b. 1888. 1901 Census, think they may be sisters and want to know if they are together with family in Salford. Thought I had this family done and dusted, but Christiana has turned up. Any help much appreciated.
Cheers Margaret.

The Hannah in the census was born 1861, so where does the Hannah born 1889 come into it?

Margaret

Margaret Report 23 May 2012 22:42

No, Reg, hasn't come up yet. I'm mystified, Hannah is supposed to be my late mother-in-laws mother. MIL was born 1916. Strange, think i've got a big mystery here.

Margaret

Margaret Report 23 May 2012 23:00

I'm just going through my records and I have Hannah Taylor married to Frank Halliday 1914 @ St. George, Salford, think I have a spanner in the works here. Thanks to all for info given. I'm going to do another trawl here. Something isn't right. Cheers.

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 24 May 2012 08:53

Sounds like you need to re-group Margaret! Are you saying you know the marriage is correct? I am assuming MIL was a Halliday, MMN Taylor? You will need the marriage cert at least I think, to sort this out.

Was Frank previously married?

His Service records are on Ancestry and it looks as if Hannah was his second wife and that he may have had a daughter (presumably with his first wife?) who was born around 1911 ?

I am just looking now to see if I can link it all up.

Are you able to tell us the name of the child born in 1916, and whether or not she had any siblings?

Dea x

P.S. - The army records confirm the address of 27 Rumford st., Cross Lane, as shown on 1911 census above.

Dea Report 24 May 2012 10:26

According to the 1911 census - John + Hannah married 25 years - had 7 children - 4 still living + 3 had died ???
All these children appear to be with them, therefore, Christiana MUST be Hannah ??

Matilda O'Brien was a 'Vipond!

Thanks very much to all of you for this input. Yes, I will need to re-group.
I'm taking all this on board and will sort it, love a good mystery.
To answer Dea, Lily Halliday was born 1916 to Frank Halliday & Hannah Taylor, I have all siblings confirmed by Catherine.
I'll print off the application form for the marriage from Salford, not a prob.
Cheers Margaret x :-)

Dea Report 24 May 2012 21:24

This also appears to be him with children Frank + Lily ???

Rejoined the army in the Lancashire Fusiliers:

British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920
about Frank Halliday Name: Frank Halliday
Document Year: 1919
Regimental Number: 80954
Regiment Name: Lancashire Fusiliers
Number of images: 10

Now at 24 Waterloo St., Liverpool St., Salford.

On army papers - Frank is born 10/1/1911, whereas baptism seems to say 30/1/1915.

It MUST be the same one though !!

Good luck - come back if you need anything else.
