Shazzlou, have you looked on this Free website?

Loads of Co. Dublin (and other Counties) Parish Church records to search and you can view nearly all the originals.

The original is available to view, and she has learned to read & write since the 1901 census. The age is a bit out - so maybe arithmetic was not on the curriculum!

Kingstown was the old name for Dun Laoghaire. It was in Rathdown poor law union. Rathdown extended from S Co Dublin into N Co Wicklow.
In England, the original civil registration districts coincided with the poor law unions. I presume this was the case in Ireland, too.

Most City of Dublin parish registers are free online at:

Bridget Byrne is still at the same address in 1911, alone, age 69 a widow but states born Co Carlow. She has put on the form she had 6 children but has not stated how many still alive. Can't see any sign of Susan under either name though.

Trouble with rootsireland there is not 100% coverage though, a lot of parishes are either missing or only part transcribed.

Shazzlou

Shazzlou Report 19 May 2012 16:29

Thanks for that Ann.
Byrne is such a common name in Ireland its like Smith in England!

Shazzlou,
I looked on Rootsireland and searched for all births between 1860 and 1890. These Byrne births are all that exist on the site with a father called Nicholas.
Only Julia b 1862 had a mother called Bridget .
None have a mother with the last name of Coles.

GlasgowLass Report 19 May 2012 15:37

Can confirm that Bridget Coles and Bridget Codd are not the same person
Bridget Codd and Nicholas Byrne married in Enniscorthy 1872.
Byrne/Coles were having children from at least 1856 onwards.

Shazzlou

Shazzlou Report 19 May 2012 15:07

Nicholas Byrne & Bridget Coals were born Wexford possibly Oylegate as their daughter Penelope/Ellen was born Oylegate Wexford c.1864. Their Son Charles was born Wexford 1856.
I cannot find Susan Mary Byrne/Gulliver on any census after 1901 Irish census. Her daughter died 1902.
Sorry for delay in my reply.
