Have tried FBMD but no luck so far.

Just wondering what the occupation of Frederick was

Strange but there is Frederick W Barrett on 1901 but wife called Eleanor

Probably not the same man as calling himself Wiliam Frederick in 1911

Thers a lady missing on that 1893 marriage. Do you have the cert to confirm its Bessie

I have looked at original and it is Frederick William Barrett 4b557 so I know that is the correct marriage.

Having difficulty finding his death.
I assume its before 1909 when Bessie married Herbert Roper.

On the service record for the 1909 marriage Bessie is listed as a spinster but nothing in the column for verified by certificate.

Is this Bessie perhaps? Did she marry Thomas Stevens. There is no listing for her on the 1893 to Frederick Barrett?

So Bessie Chapman married Thomas Stevens

Hi. Well thats a result Astra. Thankyou.

My mum told me that Bessie married Barrett and then Roper.

Mum didn't know that Bessie was her aunt until I started on the family tree.
My grandmother died when mum was quite young and mum was sent to live with Bessie Roper and children.
She was very upset, as she was treated like cinderella and found it hard to believe that an aunty could treat her like that.

She refused to take part in any further family history discussions right up to when she died, as she did not want to learn any thing more about them.

Shirley...... I have not purchased the marriage cert as I only got Bessie birth cert this morning.
Was trying to find her father...............not named.

What a family !!

Looking at the 1911 census sheet I think Herbert filled in info in the wrong places The 5 children born against Bessie have been crossed through by the enumerator as has the married 14 years against Philip Kendle as Elizabeth isnt with him on the census. I think the 5 children are the Kendle children .

Bessie doesn't have any children with her on any census.
