Knowing how clever you are, here, on Genes, I am trying to find a census for a Thomas Tulley, and his wife, on any census, obviously AFTER they married. I have the marriage record, and it states that he married a Silphine Irwin, which is my line of research. But as I cannot find her anywhere thought I would try to find Thomas. |

Did they perhaps emigrate? |

Have you tried looking for his surname as per the records? |

Hello Reg, I found this couple when I was trawling through the entries for an Irwin with the same parents names. When I checked the marriage it seems that her father had the same occupation as one of the other siblings that I have for her. |

It could be I can look to see if it gives the mother's maiden name on the records. |

You'll need parish records for her birth as it was before 1837. These are sometimes only available in record offices. |

I am trying to find out more about Silphine Irwin who married Thomas Tulley. But, as I couldn't find out anoything about her, I tried to look for her after marriage, to no avail. |

On the 1851 census there is a Sophia Tully, married to a Thomas in the right area. Possible? Her name - being unusual - may have been misheard by the enumerator. |

Oh yes, I think I saw that one, but wasn't sure as Thomas' occupation, at time of marriage was an engineer, I believe. Could that have been classed as that, in those days.?? All the other data seems to tie in, doesn't it ! |
