Would anyone have any information on James Holden. Last known address on 1901 census 18 Portland St., Blackburn living with parents William (c1860) and Alice (c1862) Holden. Also on census siblings Mary Alice (c1881), who married John James Whalley and John (c1890) who married Mary Agnes Kellett. James could have left the district or emigrated. He was a cotton mill labourer. |

there seem to have been 11 children born to William & Alice. Could James have been living with one of them in 1911 |

Thank you all for your replies. It is the James Holden I cant't seem to find at all after 1901. John his brother, married Mary Agnes Kellett in 1913 and Mary Alice married my grandad John James Whalley in 1902. I have details of the siblings that died but James is a mystery. |

I have a book with newspaper snippets in and many deaths of children are recorded as 'falling on the fire' 'falling in the canal' and such like. As you say heartbreaking, but I suppose infant mortality was so frequent then that they just picked themselves up and carried on with that bit more sadness in their liives |
