I wonder why Winifred is adopted on the 1911 ????

Ok, both 1911 census records have Robert and Louisa married for 20 years, with 5 children born and 3 still living. This has been crossed out in Robert's case but it was still written.
Reginald, Harold, Frank, Muriel and Winifred, who was adopted. 5 children all still living so why are they saying that 2 have died? Even if Winifred is not their daughter we still have Louisa with Muriel and Robert with the 3 boys who are described as his sons.


EDIT Sorry 1911 for Louisa says married for 8 years.
