So Eleanore (Ella) is another daughter of the family listed at Adelaide College at the head of this thread.

Now to track Adelaide College - it looks as if houses have been built on the site where it was in Adelaide Terrace.

I've been trying to find out where the Princess Fredericas Convalescent Home was located, but again without success. Its a long time since I did any family history research, and seem to have lost my search skills.

I'm now totally confused - can there be TWO Warrell Bowring families connected to Adelaide College, Ilfracombe? I've found 2 male births for Bowering in St. Georges Hanover Square (Stephen Henry and Walter John), but no females.

I wonder if it's the sister Eleanor you're after??

Eeek, she can't have died in 1957, she attended my marriage in 1961, and we visited her at her new home in Bournemouth a couple of years later. But the name, initials and reg district of Barnstaple (ie Ilfracombe) certainly tie in.

Surely there can't be another Warrell Bowring connected to an Adelaide College and Ilfracombe, can there?

I knew her as Miss Ella Warrell Bowring, and am confident that the first family listed above is the correct one - the Adelaide College connection confirms it.

I'm trying to find out about my late husband's early years, he had said he attended Adelaide College in Ilfracombe, and Miss Ella was his head teacher and god mother.

I've just checked on FreeBMD, but can't find the birth record for 1888.

Walter Sr. is a Sergeant but I can't make out the rest of it, Somerset something?

Looking at the first entry above, I now believe its the daughter that I'm interested in. I met her in 1961, and she certainly wasn't nearly 100 yrs old then. Sorry, that aspect of it didn't twig until now.
