Thanks Jude, understand that more certificates are required. Most times they show parents except for a few that decide (unknown) is an option. They also give occupations as well. And mothers maiden names. Birth and death certs the same. Will decide on 1904 death in due course. That is the only one that has come to light so far. Will also check out tree on A to see if related in any way. Some trees found but to date some direct descendants not listed. |

I saw that death but discounted it as there is no suggestion anywhere who parents were. Only ref is in A tree John dean and Elizabeth Brown. Do they show fathers on Australian marriage certs? If so that's the starting point and will determine whether to pursue the death in 1904 |

It also says in the death notice (unfortunately no family with it) asks for Leighton papers to copy. Leighton in Bedfordshire. |

Thankyou for the Death notice. I have been trawling through Trove looking for a death for John George as well. Did not have all his children, I do now. |

Could be possible that his parents were Irish living in Luton, Although the birth certificate of Alfred Barstable who was born in Geelong area -states born Luton, maybe he considered himself Irish. |

I have found, I think, his passage to Victoria in 1851 on the John Knox aged 28 years. Will have to check again as I must admit I forgot to check if he was a lone traveller or had family with him. |

Looking at the second marriage - trees on A have him as born 1840 with no evidence so might not be him...I can't find him in electoral rolls either :-( |
