Hi, I am hving difficulty in finding my great grandfather on the 1891 census, I believe he was in the navy, but can't find the census returns, could anyone steer me in the right direction, his name was Harry, (Henry) Lawrence nd he was born in Nottingham, his father is lited as William Henry Lawrence, any help appreciated. regards Keith :-( |

I think all this info is correct, but I can't find him in 1891, there are a couple of anomalies that I have to sort re his parentage, on his marriage certificate in 1888 he states his father is a mining engineer but other census records show he is a lace agent, Oh and the Marine something is I believe Marine Fireman |

I agree, what is confusing me is he shown as a newspaper reporter with his father a lace agent and on his marriage certificate he is a marine fireman and his father a mining engineer, would the 1891 census have included those at sea? |

a john and phoeby booth , the marriage was in Hull so there were no members of his family present I guess. |

Yes have his birth cert shows parents as Henry & Rebecca (Henry as Lace Agent) its just the fact that I cant really tie him down given that his occupation changed, he died as a result of his ship being sunk during WW1, that I do know, its just niggling me that I cant find him in 1891 |
